Comments | Stopped by this small rope tow area just off I-95 (you can literally see the highway from the top) on the drive home. They don't have a day ticket rate, but apparently may accept donations. I decided to purchase a seasonal membership, since it's still relatively cheap ($30 for 1 or $50 for 2) and it helps keep a valuable community area operating. Both rope tows were running and there was wall to wall snow cover. The powder was getting a bit wet in the above freezing, sunny weather. Nevertheless, it was decent skiing. Did not venture down the really steep trails on far skier's right, as I suspect there wasn't much snowpack under the couple inches of powder. Still plenty of untouched powder, even in the afternoon. Decent variety of steepness depending upon the slope or trail chosen. Neat small ski area and very friendly volunteers. Maybe a dozen kids skiing. Fun place to stop at to break up the drive. Would be a great place to teach someone to ski, or to practice something new (e.g. telemark). | |
