Comments | Terrific morning, as usual.... with 1 exception. ANYWAY, if you snowboard, like me, better get in and out in the first couple hours :) Snow was firm but edgeable. Front 5 are always great first thing. From top, Tramway was pretty good but light was very flat - had to be super-cautious. OK, now, the exception: I made the mistake of taking Skylight - usually one of my favorite trails. Of course, there was a lot of ice, but I usually know the typical spots. Near the bottom half, left side of trail, I hit a large ice patch and eventually lost an edge, which led to a LONG sliding fall - VERY difficult to self-arrest - felt like I was in Tux again, trying to get an edge.... kept going and going... eventually uprighting after I got my edge downhill.... oh well - no damage done (EDITED TO ADD: found some later bruises on my knee!!! d'oh!) :) Decided I really didn't want to skin up it and then have even worse conditions for descent so I went hiking across the street :) Still, fun day on the hill!!!!! |
