Comments | After decent conditions at Pats Peak on Monday night and the subsequent snow, I was hoping for good conditions at Gunstock this evening. Meh. $36 night ticket includes the RFID. Tiger - only one way down (icy chute down to Blundersmoke, which was half covered). Snowcat going on the Pistol trail, so maybe that'll be open soon. Penny Pitou - best conditions on the mountain. Interestingly Pop Gun and Red Ryder were closed tonight (groomed with plenty of base), despite being better illuminated than many other trails. Lower Peepsight was only half width, and one could see where beginners ended up in the exposed waterbar on the half without base. Ramroad - From the lift down to Exit 20 and Lower Trigger was quite icy. Lights out at the Smith-Exit 20 junction, which was unfortunate because the darkened junction was a sheet of ice. Lower Smith was maybe 2/3rds wide with so so conditions. Phelps and Riccohet were closed, but a ribbon of snow has been tracked out. Ramrod Race was decent. Tiger - Tiger Steeps, Upper Cannonball, and Slingshot were all closed. Looks like plenty of snow was made on Tiger Steeps and Upper Cannonball before the snowfall this week, but they still haven't been pushed out. Derringer was a sheet of ice. Red Hat had some good stretches and some unexpected boilerplate areas. Cannonball was rough from racing with boilerplate and random piles of granular. Riger had a few good areas, but also some areas of boilerplate. Upper Smith was scraped in the middle. | |
