Comments | Free skiing this weekend at Franklin Veterans Memorial ski area, courtesy Watts Water Technologies in Franklin. Area is 100% natural snow. Most trails were rolled, making for a reasonable surface (though not the same as manicured corduroy). One expert shoot near Ian's Trail was closed, but everything else was open. Great Gains was left ungroomed. Chute had grass sticking through, but RIP and Vet's below it were wall to wall. Only about a dozen skiers, with maybe 3 or so at a time on the hill. Despite the small vertical, the narrow, old fashioned trails ski bigger than one might think. Daytime high of maybe 0 degrees, but the area was out of the wind. Riding the T-Bar keeps one warmer than sitting on a chairlift. | |
