Comments | Today was an amazing powder day at Ragged! They received over a foot of snow from the last storm and it was still snowing when I pulled in. They opened with two groomed routes down which were Blueberry Patch > Chute > Wild Ride and Blueberry Patch > Wild Side > Wild Ride and Raggae Glades > Pines were also open on natural snow. The first few runs through the glades were excellent with plenty of untracked and bottomless lines avalible. Later, it got more tracked out, but was still fun. The groomed runs skied very well and there was none of the scraping that you almost always hear. Later Upper Ridge was groomed and opened and Upper Crew Cut was opened in its natural state. The snow light and dry, but was also deep enough that you rarely hit anything below, even with minimal base. Lift lines were minimal and were never more than two chairs long or so. Snow in the morning gave way to a partly sunny, windy, and cold day, but the open trails were protected from the wind. They were also making snow at various locations around the mountain, but only in a few locations on open trails. This was one of the best powder days I've seen in a while and I'm sure this storm has helped open more terrain across northern New England. |
