Comments CommentsReally nice conditions throughout the day today. Enough terrain open that it did not feel like early season skiing...could ski all morning without repeating a run.
Good corduroy throughout this morning. Still good skiing late into the afternoon.
Basically three pods - 6 pack, Solitude, and Jackson Gore.
Roughly 7 ways off the top of the 6 pack. Countdown was closed in the AM and wasn't that great because I think they had groomed out wet snow. Defiance and World Cup were good til the end with minimal scraping. Generally wall to wall. Noreaster was good too, though one had to slow down on the lower portion with the unused terrain park. Jolly Green Giant was nice in the AM. Sapphire was nice. Sweet Solitude is only half width and could use some fresh snow.
Roughly 5 ways off Solitude, funneling into two. Arrow was scraped by the afternoon. The Plunge was not open, but should be soon (snowmaking). Heaven's Gate to Screamin' Demon were nice. Roundhouse Run and Upper Coleman Brook were fine, but Mountain Road was icy by afternoon.
Two ways into Jackson Gore - either the Jackson Gore junction (plenty of snow) or Southern Crossing (a little bit of a pain to get to, but good packed powder once on it). Currently only one run off the top (Sunset Strip through Lower Limelight), but very good skiing all the way to the end. Snowmaking completed on Upper Limelight during the day, so that should be open tomorrow.
Forecast didn't quite come through...a few rays of sunshine early, but heavy snow around lunch time, resulting in half an inch of powder. Quads were ski on and 6 pack was no more than a chair or two wait.
MAX Pass worked out well - they give you a free RFID card for the season, but you have to get it recharged at the window each time.
