Comments CommentsTook advantage of the $39 online ticket (though there was no indication on the store that a $5 RFID fee would be charged at the window; though it is refundable at the end of the day). New "gateless RFID" means they don't check your ticket at the bottom, but have sensors near the top unload of the lift to catch violators.
Two top to bottom runs off the White Peaks Quad, no crowds, nice morning weather.
Online interactive map/snow report are confusing, but the actual routes open are 1) Upper Bobby's to Upper Sel's to Tommy's World Cup and 2) White Caps to Terry's Trail to Old Tecumseh to Lower Periphery.
Upper Bobby's and Old T pretty much wall to wall, generally loose granular with some golf balls. Old T was in the shadows in the morning, compared to the other trails being nice and bright. White Caps to Tommy's on the other hand was awesome. Pretty much wall to wall, awesome loose granular. Really nice skiing.
Base depths are also pretty good...much better than what I saw at Sunday River. No other upper mountain terrain looks close to opening, but it does look like there's enough snow to open one of the new Pasture Magic Carpet slopes.
