Comments | What a perfect day of spring skiing! With clear skies and temperatures in the 50s and 60s it was an outstanding spring day at Waterville. Lower Meadows Double, Pasture J-Bar, Valley Run Express, and White Peaks Express were open, and I did get to ride the J-bar on its second to last day of operation ever. It's a very rare Hopkins lift and it'll be sad to see it go. Most trails were still open and many had wall-to-wall coverage, especially on the Northside. Sunnyside and Green Peak had significantly more melting. True Grit was open when the day began with one part that was only one groomer pass wide, but closed within a few hours when that sectioned melted out. Crowds were very light and there were never any lines. This, combined with the large amount of open terrain, meant that many trails remained good cruisers through the day, even with the soft snow. There was some great mogul skiing avalible on Lower Bobby's Run, Lower Sel's Choice, and under the Northside Double. There were two glades that I ventured into which still had good cover. These were the Sugar Shack Glades and the glades off Terry's Trail. It was a great day with excellent skiing and exceptional snow cover for mid-April. |
