Comments | Terrific day!!!! A few inches of powder - enough to float across the groomed ice.... perhaps more people in the bar than on the hill in the morning. Sure, there were frosty goggles and wintry conditions - looked mid-winter!!! Although the front 5 (Avalanche) was fun, Mittersill had the goods. Summit itself was too foggy, and, later, quite windy and almost blew my splitboard out of my hands!!! ANYWAY, found a few more fun narrow twisty paths down Mittersill - I try to avoid the big open slopes as they tend to have all the snow blown off them, but, the hidden gems are precious!!!! To end the day, i skinned back up to the summit - bar & restaurant were not open but the restrooms were, and there was water and cups available - perfect place to rip off the climbing skins while protected from the wind. Super fun!!!! |
