Comments CommentsHad purchased a Cyber Monday special, which expires at the end of the season (which is rapidly approaching at Pico).

Only two trail pods open today - the two high speed quads each serving 3 runs. Little Pico was listed as open on the site, but was closed to the public for racing (on the only skiable trail off it). Bonanza was serving one beginner slope. Gnomes Knoll and Outpost were both closed with no skiable trails.

Golden Express served Fools Gold, Gold Rush, and Expressway. Unsavory to ski this pod, as the snowguns blasting on Expressway were spraying water onto the riders of the lift (despite the single degree temperatures). Swinger was also unsavory to ski due to the blasting guns. Gold Rush and Fools Good were skiing decently early in the morning.

Summit Express was the place to be, as there was no snowmaking in progress. 49er had good coverage and skied well. Upper KA had good coverage, though a few golf balls. Fun, narrow trail. Mid KA had minimal depth and was basically frozen granular. Upper Pike was perhaps two cat tracks wide, but skied well first thing in the morning. Mid Pike had a bit more coverage, as did Lower Pike (though half the lower portion was fenced off for racing).

Lifts were initially ski on, but short lines started to form around 11. Due to increasing crowds on limited terrain and getting a face full of water each lower mountain lift ride, decided to call it a morning and head for greener pastures down south. Would be nice to return with more terrain open. There are some fun trails, but the facilities feel pretty tired.
