Comments | One of the last days of top-to-bottom skiing this season. Three ways down from Heaven's Gate - Jester (groomed), Organgrinder, and Ripcord. Jester is on its last legs with a few narrow/thin passages. Organgrinder bumps were on the large side. There is one full-width bare spot (maybe 10 feet long; there was a narrow 3 foot strip on the side) that will require walking tomorrow if they don't put cats on it. Ripcord was in decent shape with some thin troughs in a few places up top. Thin and narrow in places below Paradise Extension, but that and Bail Out were open as well. I usually loathe Downspout, but it was in great shape today - wall to wall grooming, no bare spots, and not too soft. Valley House Traverse also open, but on its last legs. Overall, I think the complex has a shot at making it through the weekend, but not beyond. Valley House had a number of ways down. Steins was all bumps and in good shape with no weak spots showing; seems like it has a shot at May. Snowball to Spring Fling is showing the emergence of the usual weak spots. Lower Jester (open from Downspout) had a few narrow spots, but some good stretches as well. Lower Downspout was in decent shape until the very bottom. Coffee Run is hanging on, but the return to the lift had some thin spots. From afar, it looks like there's still a decent amount of snow on Upper FIS and Elbow on Mt. Ellen (lifts obviously closed for the season). A few breaks of sun in the morning with temperatures already in the 60s at opening. Sprinkles started just before 1. |
