Food and Beverage Food and BeverageDid not partake
Comments Comments28 of 28 trails. 9 of 11 (really 9 of 10 as one handle tow has no top terminal) lifts open, machined groomed, 2" in last 48 hrs. Light steady breeze. The day started off in the 20s but the temperature rose in bright sunshine to upper forties. Clouds rolled in late morning and the temp lowered some what. Sunshine and clouds traded places later in the day as the temp rose to the mid forties. The snow did not get that soft.
The first lot had just filled when we arrive a little after 8, so first row in RH lot. Indy redemption took a long, long while. First, two people in front of us were getting passes, and/or pkgs or something which took a while, then they could not find our reservation. Indy confirmation # not wanted, so they basically redid our 2 day reservations at the window. No issues with their new Axess RFID system. The install required them to sorta flatten out the entry somewhat into the Vortex double. Or at least you can hold on to gate before heading in. The parking lots were pretty much filled by 10am but people come in there all day long. Despite what looked like a large crowd, the lifts, trails & lodge never seemed too insanely over crowded. Although there was a pile of boot bags 5 deep on the ground in front of the rack where my bag and lunch were. Made it a tricky extrication. We took a late lunch and found a table without too much problem, despite having some of the Scout parents parked out all day (it was Scout's weekend!). When we came out at 2pm the Peak triple was empty and shutdown. Not enough time had gone by to do an evac so I assume they ran it off. There was a huge line down at the Hurricane Triple as everyone must of moved over there from the Peak base, so we hoofed it up to the Vortex which only had a 3 group wait. While we waited & rode by, snowmobiles headed up to Peak tower 9. That's one above where it derailed 2/18/2025. Two mechanics climbed up to work on the junction box. I assume a sensor or wiring issue? We did a couple off there before heading to Cascade Basin which was empty. Not sure if it was running or not when we left at 4pm. We heard later it was down for an hour or so.
All in all good conditions, just some hard pack on FIS and the couple ungroomed.
