Comments | Baker Mountain is the tallest ski area in New England without a chairlift, and they have kept their ticket price at $15 this year, so with over a foot of fresh snow today, it was impossible to go wrong! There was freshly groomed packed powder on many trails, but Upper Bucksaw, Upper Wedge, and skier's left side of Bodybag were left as untouched powder. The mountain was 100% open and it was quite busy today. The majority of tees were going up loaded, but lift lines never got more than a minute or two long, and there was usually no line at all. It was chilly and there was a bit of wind, but the sun was out and it really wasn't bad. It was definitely the best conditions that I've seen yet this year, and we spent the whole day on the slopes enjoying the fresh snow, with only a brief break for lunch. On that note, Baker Mountain is one of the few ski areas that we will still buy lunch at, as their prices are extremely reasonable. It cost us $14 for two cheeseburgers, nachos, a bag of chips, and an iced tea. The great volunteers who keep this place running and allow two people to ski all day and have lunch for a total of under $45 deserve a huge thanks, and Baker is definitely worth a visit! |
