Terrain Park(s) | Today was the second ever day of the brand-new park lift, a Towpro TP-40. In fact, this tow is the prototype TP-40, and so far the only one. The features were well-maintained and well-used throughout the day. Quite a few folks showed up to lap the park all day. A warning, though: If you don't have leather gloves or something else grippy, the braided rope will slip right through your fingers. It took me five attempts to ride the lift one-handed so that I could hold the camera to record a video of the new lift. The atmosphere at the park was jovial, and there was a tangible sense of camaraderie in the air. The new lift behaved itself, and did not break down as brand-new lifts are apt to do in their first seasons, as the teething troubles are worked out. No such teething troubles caused problems today, though the rope was showing some fraying already. We'll see how that one is resolved. In all - the park has never been better! |

Comments | Thanks to K.M. and friends, the whole mountain was covered in nice, perfectly-soft-but-not-too-soft corduroy. As with that powder day two weeks ago, patches of corduroy were still to be found by the end of the day. The day started out as a bluebird, but by 10:00, it had clouded over. Come closing time, it started to snow. Ten minutes later, it was snowing heavily. As I write this four hours and one county later, it is still snowing. Most of the snow on the mountain was natural. There is something special in the fact that the snow in the woods and on the trails is the same depth. But watch out for the headwall on Lower Hornet (as opposed to The Headwall a.k.a. Lights Out), Upper Racer, and Black Sheep...those three had some thin cover. Come to think of it, those may have been the only trails that needed a bit more snow. And PLN Park has received its brandy-new Towpro TP-40 and is now buzzing with happy park rats (and at least one lift nerd!). More on that above.
Seriously. Come visit. You won't regret it. Now is the perfect time! See you there!! |
