Glades | Some are open, but it's very much low tide still with only a few inches of powder. Higher angle stuff, especially in Oz without snowmaking, is rocky/closed.

Terrain Park(s) | Multiple
Run of the Day | Spectra | |
Food and Beverage | They are cashless, so I bought a slice of pizza elsewhere at a place that still allows freedom of choice with payment methods.
Comments | Chilly start to the morning with a cool, but not overbearing breeze. Lift lines pretty much from the get go, especially for the main detachables. Main thoroughfares were crowded by mid-morning and noticed quite a few ski patrol sleds in use at junctions with the crossovers and steeps. For the steep groomers: White Heat was excellent at the start (about half the width has manmade base and is groomed; guns still hosed). Right Stuff was okay. Upper Vortex was icy in places from the getgo, but Lower Vortex was decent. Upper Air Glow wasn't great, but Lower Air Glow was okay. Shock Wave, Downdraft, Top Gun, and Tin Woodsman all have snowmaking whales ungroomed (doesn't look like they've been running snowmaking in recent days). I skied the top of Tin Woodsman, but found the whales to be too firm for my liking (there was some powder to the side), so I opted to skip the rest of the whaled stuff. Black Hole saw snowmaking, but the headwall subsequently slid, so it won't be open until there's more snow or they somehow winch it all back up. I skied a few low-angle natural trails (such as Three Mile Trail) and found them to be thin hardpack with some rocks; need more natural. The main cruisers were so-so. It doesn't seem like they've refreshed a lot of the stuff that was open before the thaw-freeze a month ago, so there was a lot of boilerplate under a superficial layer of loose granular. The later snowmaking targets seemed to be much better since they didn't thaw-freeze. My first time on Merrill Hill. I liked the two green cruiser trails (combination of the novelty of being new with new views, a lot of the lots not yet being built, decent snow conditions, and virtually no one skiing this complex), but found Prism to be thin cover in a few places. Only one of these trails (Double Refraction) can be skied continuously with the lift, as the other two require going back to South Ridge (not ideal on a weekend). Last year's new lift still isn't operating, and the trails don't look like they'll open this year. Best places to avoid crowds this morning were Oz, Merrill Hill, Quantum Leap, and Whitecap quads. I avoided Jordan altogether when I heard it was already slammed this morning. I only rode the Barker chair twice due to the lines building out as well. North Peak was probably the shortest line of the detachables. Probably would have been a more enjoyable morning at Mt. Abram, but it was nice to finally ski the Merrill Hill trails.
