Comments CommentsAlthough they had opened last Sunday for an early "bonus day," Lost Valley still continued their traditional $25 opening day yesterday. Chair 1 was open with two ways down via Deer Run and Big Buck or Pine Grove and Bobcat. All open trails were groomed to some degree, but there were many whales that had yet to be pushed out that were fun to ski on and over. Snow conditions varied depending on how old the snow was, from nice loose granular to a firm frozen granular.

There was a good crowd out on the slopes and in the lodge, but lift lines were never more than a minute or two long (usually there was none at all). They fired up snowmaking in the base area, at the top of Big Buck, and on the full length of Bull Moose as the night wore on.

From the looks of it, the new Chair 3 looks pretty much complete, except for chairs and an unloading ramp. I am looking forward to being able to ski that side of the mountain utilizing the new chairlift later in the season. The new snowmaking expansion will also be a game changer on the trails on that side that were rarely open with natural snow in the past.
