Comments | I headed to Sunday River today for their free last day of the season. The day got off to a bit of a rough start, with the lift being closed until around 9:30, due to heavy rain and potential lightning. The rain finally let up a bit before 10:00, although occasional showers continued throughout the day. Jordan 8 was the only lift open, which was a rather poor setup with no base lodge of any sort available. They had a collection of food trailers and portable toilets available for use.
Lollapalooza, Excalibur, Cyclone, and Northern Lights were all groomed with good coverage, full width in many areas. Rogue Angel and Lost Princess were also open and ungroomed. Lost Princess had a few very narrow sections, but no walking was required on any open trail, except for Grand Avenue. I also did a bit of adventure skiing on glades and trails which weren't open, such as Emerald City and Poppy Fields. Despite the rain, it was a great day of spring skiing, and I'm glad that Sunday River continues their tradition of offering free skiing on their last day of the season!
