Comments | Happy Easter! I honestly thought if I got there late, like after 10, the sun would warm up the slopes for a nice spring day. Got on the Cannonball at 11:45 and that big grey cloud over the whole mountain wasn't budging. Lose frozen granular over icy machine tracks. You know when you just can't get your footing on that stuff?? That was me. Yes I was spoiled from 3 weekend in a row of powder or near perfect powder! Skated down to the Eagle cliff lift then to Zoomer for 2 runs. Slightly better off Zoomer lift that from Cannonball. Ok, how about Mittersill? Nope! Same story. One run and done. Tuckerbrook?? Is this really going to be my day?? Skiied all of that and went back to the main base after getting pissed at kids horsing around and bouncing the chair in front of me. Those little trails were actually fun and got me to warm up my legs. I honestly almost quit at 2 pm, but ok try the Cannon Ball again and talked to 2 guys on the chair about the summit. Still icy but wasn't half bad. FINALLY at 2:30 the sun broke through which made Taft and Ravine and Even Tramway enjoyable. By 3 I headed down to the Zoomer again and by the time I made my last few runs, it was actually really nice turnable, skiiable spring snow! See, it pays to wait. Afterwards I wandered over to Echo lake and then to the tram base and profile plaza to sight see and take a bunch of pictures in the Notch. I even found the old ski jumps to the left of the tram! |
