Snow Trail Conditions90% open; Spring Snow, Variable Conditions
Glades GladesI tried one on Green Peak, and it was very tricky with heavy snow (still deep in spots) and lots of stumps and deadfall, though not too many rocks. Other areas might have been doable as well but I didn't try my luck.
Moguls MogulsSadly not that many spring moguls to be found around the mountain. There was a mogul course on Lower Bobby's Run and a few bumps on the sides of Ciao and Gema. Some other trails were just starting to bump up toward the end of the day.
Terrain Park Terrain Park(s)Boardercross courses with large banked turns on Rock Island/FunRun and part of High Country. There were also more traditional park setups on Lower White Caps and lower Utter Abandon.

Comments CommentsDespite the warm and unseasonable weather over the past few weeks, Sunday was an awesome day of spring skiing at Waterville. The resort wasn't too busy and all lifts except the Northside Double were running, so lift lines were never longer than two minutes, and that was only for the Tecumseh Express. I enjoyed checking out trails that have been closed during my previous visits to Waterville, as well as riding both of their vintage surface lifts - Exhibition and World Cup.

I believe every trail that has seen snowmaking this season was open. Some of the natural trails looked doable but were closed, though there may have been a few that were open. The snow was mostly soft spring snow interspersed with bare spots and slushy patches that got bigger as the day went on. There was still a firm base in some places, but nothing really got skied off. And Tyler Too, Upper Bobby's Run and True Grit had some of the best conditions in my opinion.

It was a bright partly-cloudy day with no wind, and the views of the pretty wilderness surrounding the resort did not disappoint. While I certainly would prefer more wintery conditions at this time of year, I haven't had many chances to do proper spring skiing in the last few seasons and I thoroughly enjoyed the day.

My apologies for taking much longer than usual to post this report; I've had many other things requiring my attention over the past couple days. Hopefully there's still a bit more good skiing to be had before the end of the season.
