Comments | Started at Mt. Ellen. Ripcord had a nice sugar snow surface early, but I suspect was eventually skied off. Ventured onto Lower Paradise and quickly realized the natural was not the place to be - the little pitch was loaded with ice and had a few rocks poking through. Both slopes on North Lynx were groomed. Birch had some chokepoints, while Sunrise was generally quite nice. In today's conditions the former should have been the diamond, while the latter should have been the square. Off Gatehouse, the lift line finally has snowpack, but the Water Fall portion was either boilerplate bumps. Sleeper was quite nice (second snowmaking campaign made a difference), but the chute looked to be boilerplate. Snowmaking in progress on Stein's and Coffee Run (the latter closed), as well as a few guns visible on Spring Fling. Slidebrook Chair was running this morning, but is still closed. It's unfortunate that they still can't get this going; it ended up contributing to an early end to our day. After an early lunch, we did the drive over to Mt. Ellen only to discover that the lots were completely full and cars were parking well down the access road. Had the Slidebrook been open, we would have just taken that. Since we lost our parking spot at Lincoln Peak (and it looked like the lots were otherwise full), we left. Lots of lift problems today. Mechanical holds at various times today on Castlerock, Summit, and North Ridge, along with Slidebrook still being closed. | |
