Comments | I finally get to review my home mountain! Truth be told I have been skiing the Mad River Valley since 1986, and have a place in Warren. The PLAN-DEMIC had forced me to other more friendly places (thank you State of New Hampshire and Indy Pass!), so nearly 4 years later, I was back on my favorite chairlift. The RFID is new, and I wasn't fond of it being that this is Mad River Glen, but I digress. Got on the Single at 10 am, temps low 30's foggy and misty. Top was very firm compared to midstation and below. We had like 3 different snow and weather seasons in one day here. Briefly cleared up after 12:30, then clouds rolled back in and instead of the morning mist, we got very light snow showers. Best trails were off the Double and Birdland. By the end of the day, Upper Antelope was just too icy. Catamount not much better. Chute was bullet proof all day. Lower Antelope closed, as was Fall Line and Paradise. Over all it was a really great day.
If I can make a Sunday Nordic Area post here, I skied Bluberry Lake XC Sunday from 11-3. Really nice soft yet fast conditions. Its a great place to XC ski. If you are in the Mad River Valley and want an Nordic alternative go see my friend George! |
