Session | Full Day |
Ticket Type | Season Pass |
Lift Lines | 1 to 2 minutes |
Trail Conditions | 100% open; Powder, Variable Conditions |
Glades | All glades open across the mountain. The East Side glades, particularly Seance and Disappearing Act, were more skied-in while the newly-opened West Side terrain was harder to navigate without the right skis. Good coverage across the mountain. |
Moguls | Except for a handful of trails, all of Magic's ungroomed terrain had been opened in the past few days, and so not enough people have been down most runs for the powder to get packed down and formed into moguls. A recent storm left 6" of powder on top of another 6" that was crusted over from a storm a few weeks ago that switched to freezing rain. Particularly the West Side terrain was hard to navigate without powder skis especially where that crust broke through, but coverage was very good and with time should become more navigable. |
Terrain Park(s) | Terrain park and handle tow were open from 11-4, no night park likely due to sub-zero temps after sundown. |
Run of the Day | Goniff Glade |
Food and Beverage | Cafeteria and Black Line Tavern both open, Cafeteria with some more food options last year. Get the chowder. |

Comments | Overall a very good day. Despite there being no recent "powder day" storms, it still skied like a powder day, as after a couple of ~6" storms fell, Magic dropped the ropes to all of their terrain by the end of the day. Very few crowds for a 100% open day, lift lines at Red were never more than a minute, while Green was ski-on. For truly optimal conditions I'd wait for some more people to pack down the snow and start forming moguls on Heart of Magician, Twilight Zone, Sorcerer, Slide of Hans, Black Line, etc but if you have powder skis and like chunky snow, get there ASAP. Magic is still taking advantage of the cold snap with more snowmaking, this time working down Lower Wand and presumably onto Carumba and Lower Redline by the start of this week. A few spots, mostly on the West Side (Lower Wizard runout and Bailout/HOM intersection) were heavily damaged by the flooding this past July and have major waterbars with damaged culverts that could use a filling, if possible. Overall, hard to complain. |
