Comments CommentsTrails were groomed out wet and subsequently froze solid, making for subpar skiing this morning. With the exception of Murphy's, pretty much everything off Super Bravo was very firm. Groomed trails off Super Bravo were Spring Fling, Murphy's, Jester/Organgrinder, and Downspout. Extended stop on the lift around 10:30, but Valley House remained in operation.

Jester was the only groomed trail off Heaven's Gate and was decent. Would have considered Ripcord with rock skis (though it looked rough below Bail Out). Upper Organgrinder looked pretty firm (natural bumps). The new Heaven's Gate Traverse provides a decent alternative to Downspout, but there are a lot of junctions to contend with, as well as an uphill after Organgrinder.

Gatehouse quad didn't open until 9; would have been nice earlier since the trails are in the sun. Sleeper to Sleeper Chute was nice in the warm sun, providing some spring snow even. Pushover was boilerplate with occasional loose granular. Waterfall was natural with lots of dirt showing.

We took some low angle natural trails (such as Castle Rock Connection) and found them to be firm with some open waterbars and occasional rocks. It's nice that they had most of the natural trails "open" but most necessitated rock skis.

Mt. Ellen and North Lynx not yet open.

Increasingly crowded trails as the morning progressed (not fun with various abilities struggling on the boilerplate) and lines building out through the corrals. Will probably wait to go again until we get some significant natural or more snowmaking terrain open.
