Comments CommentsMet up with some friends this morning, and skinned the groomers for the first half. Wasn't a bad groomer on the mountain: Birches, Crewcut, Lower Ridge, and Flying Yankee skied the best run over run. Rumor had it that Flying Yankee was closed for race training, but we managed to sneak by before and after gates were placed. Some of us may have pretended to be racers testing our accuracy through the gates...

Ragged Glades was a soft cripsy trip, and found that the lower portion had actually been groomed at some point! This was new to me, so imagine my surprise for my last run to find the bottom half of Sweepstake groomed too! Those trails have always been natural and ungroomed for me, and I'm not sure I liked them groomed.

Once my friends left, I wasted no time testing out the ungroomed terrain available! The backside of the mountain is open, so I took dove head first into the water with Cabin Fever. Tougher bare spots up top, hard crunchy snow all the way through. Side Winder was groomed top to bottom, so that was a relief on the legs (and fillings). Mikey's Run was AWESOME, such a fun trail. Skipped Big Rock after my Cabin Fever experience. Raggedy Andy was open, and that skied just fine. A few bare spots, and rocks off the short final pitch were visible from the chair, so easy to mitigate on the exit. Moose Alley was fanastic, easy to thread your way around rocks and barer spots.

Finally...I have been DYING to ski Rags To all the way through Riches since hiking the Sunapee Ragged Kearsarge Greenway a couple summers back, but it was never open when I was around!! I stopped by Ski Patrol quickly to see what goodness might await me, and they asked me to report back since they hadn't put eyes on it recently. The official entry is on the actual Greenway trail, by the communication tower however no one has entered that way. All traffic has come through the To: Karen's Dream access trail. Rags To is getting pretty thin in places up top, side slipping might wreck your skis on rocks. I chose to thread my way around them carefully. Riches, Not Too Shabby and Pel's are absolutely beautiful, I would have skied the rest of my day in there if I didn't need the chairlift!

Only trail roped off was Cemetary Gates.

Last note: Season Passes are on sale now for exisiting passholders for $399 until 4/3. After that the prices increase on a tiered timeline. Closing day is April 2!
