Comments | First time back to Mount Abram in 10 years. Glad to see that some things never change. Need to keep reminding myself that bigger capacity areas are sometimes not always better than smaller ones. Mount A is truly a great example. The $35 tickets (LL Bean sponsorship) and abundance of natural snow made for quite the day! The Wayback Machine was spinning after being down for awhile, and almost everything off the summit was groomed and / or open with decent coverage. It looked like they tried to get to just about every trail (with a sufficient amount of snow) with a snowcat, and it was certainly worth it. Bullwinkles Horn, Peabody's Pass, and parts of Presto were those little areas with hidden cat tracks. Great spots to get into after you've found them. The long groomers (Dudly-Do-Right, Fearless Leader, Boris Badenov) were all-around great to rip on. Nice spots off skiers left on Dudley. Found it interesting that there was a little bit of a crowd here today. The parking lot seemed half-full but there were people just about everywhere during runs. When the double stopped a line would form near the main lodge, and then die down after a run or so. Can't really say it was walk on at times, but for most of the day I had a chair all to myself. Temps started out at around 29 and warmed up to around 40ish a little after noon. Clear skies with no clouds in sight. Great day to revisit! | |
