Comments | Yahooo! Such a fun vibe here, lots of stuff to keep us busy! Snowed all day while we skied, a bit windy at times but probably received a solid three inches while we skied. I’m really interested in the active tree management they e got going on here; there are a lot of beech stands, conifer and sapling preservation going on. Helps keep the natural snow, and character. It was great it snowed all day too, really help give the steeps a good refill.
We skied as much as we could today, with exception to glades and the really sketchy cliffy terrain. Moodys, Quacky, and Lower Gazelle had plentiful soft moguls. Canyon and Grand Canyon were pretty firm all day. Lower Antelope was fun, decent sized bumps and nice snow - cross country ski at the bottom was a bit tough but worth it! All groomers were soft and fast. Panther was a blast, we used a little cutover through the trees to reach Upper Gazelle at one point to avoid the gnarliest part below Panther at one point. Slalom Hill was good, entry was rough - maybe worth taking the upper trail to connect to Partridge to save your skis or hang a little downhill on the true trail. Birdland chair was closed, but we still managed to hit a decent amount of terrain over there. Periwinkle Bowl was the crunchiest bumps of them all, but plenty of purchase to be had. Racing took place all day on Grasshopper/Race Hill, but the Practice Slope lift was open to ski Cricket (not sure if Eaton’s Run was accessible).
For my first visit I’d agree this place is legit. The operations on the mountain are fascinating to me with the primarily natural snow situation. Conservation of snow, character of trails, and tree growth management was really cool to see working together. |
