Comments CommentsAnother nice day at Loon, with good conditions thanks to the foot of snow they received on Saturday. I spent the day similarly to my last visit, starting at the Governor Adams Lodge and mainly lapping the East Basin double in the morning before taking a couple runs on North Peak around noon and finally hitting South Peak after lunch. Lift lines were pretty long for the North Peak Express during the morning and even East Basin had a line outside the queue, but there were little to no wait after lunch for any lift.

Conditions were packed powder over a base that was firm in some places, icy in others. Steeper trails were getting a little bit skied-off towards the end of the day. Cover was thinner than I expected on some of the steeper natural-snow trails; I'm guessing the mountain lost some of their base during the thaws over the last month.

The weather was overcast with freezing fog up high until the afternoon, with little to no wind and temperatures rising into the mid-30s. There were a couple of very light snow squalls in the morning as well. There was a race event taking place on Coolidge Street, however the trail was opened to the public for the latter part of the afternoon. It turned out to be my run of the day as it had no ice whatsoever and was incredibly fun to speed down. Angel Street, Upper Speakeasy, and Upper Picked Rock were also some of the best trails I skied.
