Comments CommentsUnfortunately it seems like Black is having a tough season. It appears that only two runs from the top of the triple have seen snowmaking (and nothing from the top of the double) - Juniper and Valley View. Weird to see Upper Jackson Standard almost bare. Seems like snowmaking may be done for the year (no hoses left on the mountain; one fan gun sitting on the J-Bar slope).

The triple, platter lift, and rope tow were running today. No double and no J-Bar. No lines.

Platterpull lift line seemed to have a few thin spots developing. The two trails off it were okay (lots of large snowmaking piles on Jubilee).

The two snowmaking runs skied decently, though there were a few random rocks level with the snowpack at the bottom of the Bob-O-Link portion. Generally spring snow.

The low angle natural trails skied decently, but the steeper parts and merged areas were thin with dirt/rocks/grass starting to appear (such as the bottom of Sugarbush). Caution was needed on the intermediate and expert natural trails, as there were sections not visible from above that were basically single-file to get around the dirt and rocks.

I think the main Roller Coaster/Maple Slalom/Jackson Standard slopes were closed (roped at the top), but folks were getting onto them via crossovers. Thin, melting cover with some rocks and grass showing.

The only expert trails I attempted were Maple Chute, Upper Speedwell, and S Turns, all of which were thin with some rocks.

I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had brought my rock skis. Fortunately I didn't do any significant damage, mainly due to skiing with a lot of caution.

Nice spring-like afternoon with blue skies and temperatures in the mid 40s. The current forecast for later this week could devastate them; hopefully we get a good refresh of natural snow soon.
