Comments | Went up to Bousquet at the end of the week last night. The snowpack held up pretty well to the ice/rain on Wednesday night, but it definitely absorbed the water. As the temps dropped from the upper 30s to the high 20's post sunset, the snow off-piste froze up into an unbreakable crust/frozen ski tracks. As a result, anything that wasn't on groomers skied pretty badly, and I didn't touch anything off of groomers except for right when I arrived.
Fast and firm conditions. Loose granular, icy, nothing really abnormal for New England. No boilerplate, but it was hardly packed powder. There were enough ways down to keep it interesting, if it were a little warmer there would've been quite a few woods/natural trails that would've been fun to ski. Lots of middle schools screaming between the two chairlifts, doing stupid stunts in clearly frozen areas, and being a general nuisance. Overall, not a particularly wild ski day, but it was nice to get some skiing in at a mountain other than my local hill.
