Food and Beverage | Cafeteria was busy, but moves like a well oiled machine. Decent cheeseburger. Shrinkflation has hit the Pats Peak cookies ($5 and smaller than earlier in the season), but still very good.
Comments | Pats Peak may well have the best product in New England this week, as they survived the blowtorch and have most of their trails open. A few small thin spots here and there, but no rocks to worry about. Variable conditions on the main mountain due to the wet natural snow being skied on last night/groomed out. Decent conditions. Only trails of significant not open were Turbulence, Vortex, Hurricane (some manmade snow on the lower part), and Tornado (whales). Cascade Basin opened at 10 AM and had the longest lines of the morning soon thereafter. It was also 100% open and had the nicest snow, as the natural was groomed to a nice, soft surface. With the exception of Cascade Basin, all of the chairlifts were spinning at opening, which was a nice touch. As the triples became busy, the fast Vortex chair was awesome. Noted that they appear to be using RFID passes now (no additional fee, no scanners, and attached with a zip tie). Indy reservation went very smoothly (booked it just before I left in the morning, then picked it up at the outside ticket window). Partly sunny morning with temperatures warming from about freezing to 40F. Left before the 60th anniversary celebration, but the 60 foot long cake was pretty impressive.
