Comments | Used the Indy Pass today. Had to make an advance reservation. This required setting up an online account at Cannon with name, address, birthdate, and creating a username and password. Cannon is now using RFID cards which cost $5. Also had to upload a photo, or one could be taken upon arrival when picking up the RFID card. There are no RFID gates at Cannon. The cards are placed in your pocket and are scanned with handheld scanners. Scanned at every lift, even upper mountain lifts. So no labor reduction. The indoor ticket area has been converted to outdoor windows with terminals that look to be self service at first glance. But they each have to be be operated by a person inside at each window. So again no apparent labor savings.
Skied from the Peabody, Cannonball, and Zoomer lifts. Not a whole lot of snow or open terrain. Only the snow-making trails were open - and there aren't that many of them. Spring like conditions. Only two routes were open coming down from the top, Tramway and Upper Cannon. The front five had Zoomer, Gary's, and Rocket. These trails had the best snow and the best skiing on the soft bumpy conditions. Not crowded at all today. Not much of a wait at any of the lifts all day. The Mittersill area opened up today. But from the trail report it didn't seen like very much was open, so we didn't go over there. |
