Comments | Conditions were better than I expected. Employees were friendly, but one could tell there was some sadness from the recent Peak Resorts layoffs. Two options off the summit, splitting to five options on the lower mountain. Lynx was open top to bottom with generally wall to wall coverage and good base depths. At the very bottom, one could choose the run out with lower Polecat or the steeps of Lower Catenary, the latter of which had better coverage. Cat Track was also open to connect to the other side, but on its last legs. Upper Catapult had good coverage from the summit to where it first reaches the lift line. Some chokepoints just above Cat Track, and in the usual places on Middle Wildcat. A little tight getting onto Bobcat, but some areas of good coverage, others only one cat wide. Cheetah was ungroomed. Very narrow up top (including a line of snow that dead ended; had to take the left option to stay on snow), but below the other drop in, it was quite wide and good skiing. Wild Kitten had some narrow areas as well as places that were wall to wall. Very fun to let it rip on this trail this morning. Overall, conditions, were loose granular to start, then transitioning to spring snow as the morning progressed. Skied 10 runs, then headed south to hike. Lynx should be fine tomorrow. They won't be open during the midweek, but there's still a chance they could reopen next weekend. At that point, I suspect they'd be down to Lynx, as the chokepoints on the other side of the mountain can only be put back together so many times. | |
