Comments | Four groomed ways down - Upper Bobby's to World Cup, White Caps to Old Tecumseh, No Grit to Upper Valley Run, and Oblivion South Street. Snowmaking in progress in High Country, Ciao, Stillness, and Bourbon Street, which I suspect could open this weekend. Wisely, Waterville is closed tomorrow, so they should be able to survive the downpour.
Lots of natural options as well, but rock skis definitely recommended, as there are lots of random sizable rocks on many of the trails and there's nothing under the powder. Natural trails included Lower Bobby's (opted to skip), Psyched (okay other than some rocks on the headwall), Tippe and Tyler Too (lots of random rocks), Utter Abandon (snow collected well on the headwall), and Lower Sel's (snow collected well between Siegel Street and the boom gun junction, but rocks below there). Some wind exposed areas were down to grass, while many other areas had two feet of powder.
Generally a few minute wait for the sixpack. Nice lift, though I prefer quads (I got stuck with a chairful of snowboarders first run, and managed to get hit twice). Groomed trails were busy in places (particularly Oblivion between No Grit and Upper Valley Run, as well as lower Valley Run), but natural trails were very quiet. |
