Comments CommentsAnother impressing showing of Loon's snowmaking firepower. A majority of the main mountain is now open.

Whereas Loon often opens lifts earlier than advertised, the Kanc8 opened a few minutes late this morning.

On North Peak, Walking Boss is open top to bottom with about 2/3rds coverage (random icy patches). Upper Flume skied well. Lower Flume is not yet open, but manmade snow has been pushed out to half width (tower gun side). Sunset is close to wall to wall up top, but about 2/3rd width further down.

Angel Street/Basin Street/Triple Trouble are not open, nor have seen any activity yet.

The four upper mountain cruisers are open, with Upper Picked Rock being icy, while the others were decent (including Upper Speakeasy).

Below Grand Junction, Brookway and Lower Bear Claw are open. Dropline was pushed out and should be open soon. Seven Brothers (I believe, I get the trails confused) was pushed out. Load test was in progress on the new lift.

Off the Kanc 8, Lower Picked Rock, Blue Ox, Rampasture, Lower Northstar, Upper Rumrunner, and Lower Coolidge Street were all open. Lower Picked Rock and Blue Ox seemed to ski the best.

Snubber is open off the novice double, but we did not venture over.

Nice partly sunny day, though windy higher up. Snowmaking shut down just after opening, as temperatures made it above freezing by lunchtime. Decent crowd, but no lift lines and minimal congestion. $69 lift ticket online was a little pricey, but cheaper than other areas (with less terrain open).
