Comments | Wachusett opened today so I ventured up for a quick 3 hrs. Monadnock lift area was operating but I didn't go over there. Conifer was the only trail from the summit. Lots of death cookies but skiable. After a day of skiing on it and another groomer run it should be much better. Numerous smaller whalebacks on lower half of Conifer some of which were pretty hard packed. Trail is only about 3/4 full width. Quite crowded with a younger crowd too high on adrenaline for my liking in the cramped quarters. Challenger is only maybe a 1/3 full width. They were grooming out the whalebacks early when I arrived and opened it around 10. It skied remarkably well. Mostly powdery over a very grippy hard pack. We also skied Ralph's run which was about 3/4 full width and also skied well with a mostly powdery mix. They have a way to go but they are open. |
