Comments | I showed up just before 1 pm, front row parking for everyone. (Becca & I skinned up Mt. Sunapee on great snow early this morning). I skied 10 runs on the gondola, some showers, cloudy, high 40's. Snow conditions very good and plenty open and more open if you're willing to walk or duck ropes. Lucky to run into some friends right from the start. Felt like I had the place to my start. Upper Swoop and down to Darby's Drop good skiing. Only near the lift was there slushy deep snow/water. Lower third of the mountain had to watch for grippy melted out spots but windmilling my arms kept me on my feet. No idea what Upper Express/Fabians Express was roped, I wasn't the only one ducking the rope, it was sun groomed and more corn like than spring snow, it skied super, my last 4 runs were on this trail. Saw a groupo of 4 hiking up from the gondola to ski Bode's Run. Others told me they went over to West Mt. too. Darby's was awesome firm and the shaded snow, even on the outrun was fast. We could see the hotel below but the clouds covered the mountain vista. I didn't get too wet, just a few passing showers this afternoon. Good skiing, if yo have the itch to go well worth the $59 ticket they're selling. FYI: Cannon was closed today but I heard they will be open tomorrow for their closing day. |
