Comments CommentsBest day to ski the River, the conditions got better as the day continued. Parked at Barker, and hit the chair by 9:30. Firm trails here, so we worked our way far over to the open trails on North Peak. North Peak lodge was closed. We ventured over toward the new Merrill Hill triple chair that is being built, and took the long scenic route through the condos, and back to the Chondola. As we made our way back, we covered all the territory we could on Spruce Peak. It had softened up a lot just in the few runs over at North Peak. Piled up easy, but was fun spring snow. Getting back to Barker it had clearly softened up from our firm introduction. While skiing on Ecstasy mid afternoon, we saw the ropes had finally dropped on Goat Path (?), and took it! Same went for Rocking Chair, and Flow State. We went over to White Heat quad before lunch, and it was excellent. A couple of small, manageable boiler plate spots but otherwise softened up nicely by the sun. Edges by mid afternoon were so soft and fun! Lower White Cap quad had total spring snow by mid afternoon, we stopped halfway down Tempest in favor for the better conditions on White Heat while we could. Never felt busy or crowded all day.
