Food and Beverage Food and BeverageMany good food options were available around the mountain. Only cashless forms of payment are accepted. Cash can be used to purchase a gift card though, if that makes any sense? I brought my own food today.
Comments CommentsStaying in the Loon area for a few days. Decided to take the ride over to Sunday River today, it's on the same pass as Loon.

Parked at the Barker Lodge. Not very busy today, arrived at 9 and parked in bay 2. No mask mandate in effect, since the beginning of the season I was told. No indoor bag storage option. All the cubbies were moved outside under the deck. Not a big deal. Carried my ski boots to the lodge, booted up there and stored my shoes and some food in one of the outdoor cubbies. Trying to reduce the wear and tear on my ski boot soles from all the parking lot walking the last two years.

Loon has good snowmaking, but Sunday River has really taken it to the next level this season! The trails off the Barker lift had recent snowmaking and are set up really well for Spring. I stuck to the groomed snowmaking trails today, and the conditions were outstanding across the board. Nice grippy snow.

Skied the trails off of the Barker and Spruce Peak lifts in the AM. Right Stuff, Jungle Road, Ecstasy, Southpaw, Sunday Punch, Cascades, American Express, Risky Business, Downdraft. All the trails were in great shape, couldn't go wrong on any of them.

After Lunch I worked my way over to the Jordon Bowl area. It was a bit windy at the Summit over there. But the sun came out, it warmed up a bit, and was really nice! Excalibur and Rogue Angel were outstanding, made three peats on each! Lollapalooza had some icy spots at the beginning of the trail, which may be tricky for beginners as this is a green trail. It's worth noting that there are not many restroom options available on this side of the mountain, just inside the hotel.

All of the natural snow trails in the Oz area, and off the Kansas trail, are toast. Devastated snow with frozen rivers of ice. Shows what a difference good snowmaking makes.

Worked my way back over to the Barker lift. It was a great day so I skied until the bloody end. Caught the second to last chair up at 4:01!

Weather: Temperature was 20° and there were some snow flurries at opening. Temperature rose to 38° and it was mostly sunny at the closing bell. There really was a closing bell!
