Comments CommentsWhat better way to start Spring? It was a perfect bluebird day at King Pine yesterday. Conditions were much better than I had expected they would be and 100% of trails were still open! Temperatures were in the 20s in the morning & trails were frozen granular, but rose into the 40s later in the day which made for some great spring skiing on soft snow.

Surprisingly there was almost no ice to be seen anywhere! Some trails were getting thin & had some exposed ground/rocks, but just as many had a deep base. White Pine & Pine Board had some narrow sections and a good amount of exposed ground. Pine Brule & Pitch Pine were left ungroomed and the moguls were in perfect condition! Pitch Pine was about 3' wide at the very top, but had very good coverage the rest of the way down. Pine Brule had some very narrow sections at the top and another narrow section at the bottom, but it also has good coverage in the middle.

The cardboard box race was taking place on East Slope and the only crowd seen all day was watching the race. Otherwise all of the lifts were ski-on the entire day.

In the morning I was on the Powder Bear Triple when it stopped for about 15 minutes becasue of a relay switch issue. They started the lift back up to clear it, then closed it until about 11:00.

On the way back we ate at Pizza Barn in Ossipee which I highly recommend.
