Food and Beverage Food and BeverageThe Governor apparently forced Cannon to lift its ridiculous mask mandate last week. I was already in the habit of avoiding their lodges as a result of the mandate, so I ate before I arrived.
Comments CommentsDid not reserve for the Indy (didn't want to pay the extra $1.50); no issue picking it up day-of at the window.

Quintessential Cannon conditions today - some good loose granular, lots of glaciers, random bare spots, and assorted rocks mixed in with the snowpack.

One and a half ways down at Mittersill - Skyline/Ridge Run to Dragon's Drop (to Tuckerbrook via crossing guards) or Taft Training Slope. Baron's was closed due to racing. Probably the best overall conditions. Natural stuff down low is pretty much fried.

Tuckerbrook complex had decent conditions where we skied. Fleitman Trail is closed through the complex, so you have to drop down and ride the lift, then take Turkey Trot to lower Fleitman to get to Mittersill.

Main mountain was so so with some iffy areas and some decent areas. Middle Hardscrabble, Turnpike, and Red Ball are closed. Lower Hardscrabble was terrible - large blue ice glaciers and plenty of hardpack. Middle Ravine wasn't much better. Bypass and Extension were also rough on the steeps.

Zoomer complex was decent if you were careful where you went. Skiable where the guns were, but still some random hidden blue ice (saw one nasty crash from the lift). Jasper's and Banshee were by far the best of the bunch (and barely skied), while Paulie's was probably the best of the steeps. Mickey's Margin is very thin and icy.

Up high was okay, as the guns appear to have been run recently. Vista Way was closed, as was Upper Hardscrabble (and the Saddle; no longer fully covered in snow). Tramway was pretty icy in places and there were some rocks. Upper Cannon also had some rocks and ice. Profile was firm but fine. Skylight had some carnage, but Taft was good (freshly pushed out piles). Upper Ravine was so-so at first, but terrible below the end of Taft (close to wall-to-wall blue ice in one spot, lots of hardpack). Really icy near the bottom of the chairlift, with some rock/dirt starting to poke through near the queue. Links were also rough.

A dusting of snow from yesterday's storm. Flat areas and very bottom of Zoomer softened to spring snow in the sun, but otherwise things remained loose granular/frozen granular/blue ice. Surprising number of fast, reckless skiers and some near misses. Nice early spring weather with clear skies and temperatures in the 30s or 40s.
