Comments | 7 inches of overnight snow on top 3 inches from the day before setup for some very nice power and packed powder skiing. Wind did pick quite a bit in the afternoon. Started the day on the Kang8 and made a straight bee line for North Peak via Rolling Bear. We were the first tracks on Rolling Bear (no ski patrol or snow mobiles), very sweet. Went down Walking Boss next, mix of power and wind blown snow. Flume was groomed and skied very nicely. They left about 30% of the trails un-groomed with at least one route that was groomed from each major lift. Over on South Peak both Ripsaw and Twitcher/Jobber were groomed. Didn't go down Ripsaw, but Twither and Jobber were in great shape with packed powder and any scraped off areas had edgeable snow. Cruiser and Boom Run were primarily left un-groomed with a lot of windblown snow. The wind made for slow run out on Boom Run. Over in east basin it appeared they just opened Cant Dog and Triple Trouble. Moguls and loose snow all over. Triple Trouble had 12+ inches of loose snow punctuated by scrapped off areas with some rocks showing etc. Made for fun, but challenging conditions to maintain a good line. Just wish the warm up predicted for Sunday doesn't happen. It seems just as they recover from a blow torch another one comes there way. | |
