Food and Beverage | No mask mandate (a couple of old signs)! In fact, zero masks seen all day. Nice to have a normal experience. Two cheeseburgers, fries, hot cider, and a bottle water were $14.50. Pretty good deal, particularly for a ski area.
Comments | Free skiing this weekend, this time sponsored by Benson Auto. 6-8" of powder with basically no base (no snowmaking, and the most recent rainstorm fried just about everything). We brought our rock skis and were glad we did (wouldn't have put my regular skis through this). Glad they operated and left everything open - lots of fun. Probably won't be able to operate again until we get more snow. All of the novice and intermediate trails had been groomed. Chute was also groomed, but the other diamonds were ungroomed. Lower Wilderness and Lower Race had the best coverage - nice, soft, wall to wall corduroy. The main slope and particularly Chute above it had lots of brown spots/grass poking up, and the mid-30s and sun weren't helping. Also quite thin on Upper Race/Upper Great Gains, as well as the very top of Upper Wilderness. Friendly volunteers running the lodge and the lifts. Folks were also letting kids sit in the cab of the snowcat. Fire going in the new outdoor patio. A few dozen skiers on the slopes, all having fun (especially the kids). Never a line for the rope tow or the T-Bar. For each run, we had each particular trail to ourselves. It may be a small area statistically, but it skis bigger because of all of the fun trails. Hope we get some more snow this winter.
