Comments | Pats Peak was the only ski area south of the Canadian border (ie Big Rock) open in New England tonight. Though spring is definitely here, they still have top to bottom coverage. Also heard a rumor they may fire up the snow guns again if it gets cold enough in the coming days. In the Valley area, there are three ways down (including the terrain park; Puff closed). Lots of snow in the park still. From the summit, there were four ways down, though I suspect they will get a couple more trails put together again for the weekend once temperatures permit extra snowcat work. Twister had one small bare spot up high (which I suspect will be fixed for the weekend), but was otherwise in good shape with multi-foot base depths. FIS was closed I think to preserve the snow for the weekend, but looked fine from afar. Hurricane was closed, but I suspect has enough snow in piles to put together for the weekend. Duster and East Wind had wall to wall coverage and good conditions. Breeze was getting narrow in places, but there is a fan gun waiting to go near the top. Overall, base depths were generally pretty good, especially considering the winter we're having. Surface conditions were quite good - never too slushy on the hill, and no ice to speak of. They may well have the best conditions in the region this weekend. | |
