Comments | Took some time off work to get there for the 3PM start of the night session (hard to justify going after work, since the mountain closes at 8), which allowed for an hour of all-mountain skiing. We managed to get half a dozen runs off the quad (including getting on the lift at 3:59) before it closed for the afternoon. Vast majority of trails are open. Four groomed trails off the top. Flintlock had a lot of ice and boilerplate. Upper Trigger had some boilerplate, but was edgeable. Upper Recoil also had a fair amount of ice and boilerplate. Upper Gunsmoke had some as well, though the ice was at least marked. Middle Trigger, Middle Recoil, Middle Gunsmoke, and Shot Gun were all okay. From the Pistol chair, Blundersmoke was half width, while Pistol was perhaps 2/3rds width. Both were firm, but okay. Beyond Pistol was closed for the night when we made it over there. From the Ramrod, Smith an Phelps were so so. Ricochet I think was closed. Ramrod Race and Tiger were both closed for racing/race training. From Tiger, Stonebar and Flintlock Extension were both scratchy on the steeps, but nice lower down. Red Hat and Cannonball were so so with some boilerplate and ice. Red Hat was particularly challenging, as the lights on one side were not on. Derringer/Upper Smith was the worst of all trails, due to lots of ice and multiple spots with no lighting. Snowmaking in progress on Blunderstone, Trigger Link, Phelps/Ricochet (I think; those slopes kind of blur together for me), Tiger Steeps, and Upper Cannonball. The ones mentioned off Tiger all look pretty close and I suspect could open this weekend if they want to. RFID worked smoothly. No extra charge for the RFID passes. Beautiful sunset, but quickly dropping temperatures and a brisk breeze. | |
