Food and Beverage | Ate in the pub. Staffing is limited, as it is the case in most places. Bartender was very sweet, and doing her best. Beer was cold, hot cocoa was hot, food took a little bit but it was good. |

Comments | Fun day. Met a couple friends, and skied with most everyone until around lunch time. Race training on FIS for the college, and a race on Twister. Snow conditions everywhere were fantastic. I also heard from a couple of our friends who were more daring today that Hurricane was good, and edgeable where it looked icy. They also said that the snow on Vortex was phenomenal. Tornado got a bit patchy toward the start of night skiing, but still plenty of real estate of course. Cascade Basin was a lot of fun, everything except the glades is open and in fine shape.
Chair traffic overall wasn't terrible considering it was a busier Thursday, but after lunch it definitely picked up, and we retreated back to Cascade Basin for a few runs. We understood early in the morning that the Vortex double wouldn't be running because they didn't have to man power to run it. This labor struggle is really hitting a lot of areas hard (and all industries). They seemed to have fine staff support for the cafeteria, but the Sled Pub upstairs was struggling. One bartender on serving the bar and the food. I have seen it that way here before, but on a much quieter day. I think between the racing, and the after school program with more parents choosing to drive their children in versus using the buses, the poor bartender and kitchen staff were stretched thin. |
