Food and Beverage | Chicken tenders at the hotel cafeteria were $8, but decent portion. Masks are optional, so they got my business. Perhaps half the folks in the hotel lodge area were wearing masks.
Comments | $45 early season ticket seemed like a reasonable deal based upon the snow report, but there wasn't quite enough actually open to justify it in my opinion. For the general public, the Mid-Burke Quad was running. Three options for the top quarter of the mountain - Upper Fox's Folly, Shoot, and Upper Willoughby. The first two merge pretty quickly, then merge with Willoughby, then all traffic moves to Lower Bear Den. Warren's Way was listed as open, but it was pretty much closed to the public. All but the top quarter is covered, wall to wall, but it's served by the T-Bar, which was not open to the public. Technically the public was allowed to cut in and ski the bottom quarter of it today, but with two race courses set, it was very limited. With essentially one run open most of the way down, areas were getting scraped within an hour or so. Otherwise, decent loose granular conditions this morning. Seems like there was only 2 to 4 inches of natural from Saturday's storm. Snowmaking in progress on (closed) Lower Willoughby. Snow cats pushing out the (closed) lower mountain. I suspect these will be open for Christmas. Carriage Road is closed, but has some packed snow (from snowmobiles) and was being used by skinners. Employees were friendly and the weather was cloudy, becoming partly sunny.
