Comments | Lifts still open: Gondola, Seven Brothers, North Peak. Minimal grooming overnight to preserve snow. Groomed trails were firm at opening and took a couple hours to soften up. Generous helpings of mashed potatoes and corn were served up by mid morning. Sunset was the only way off of North Peak. It was groomed to start but got bumped up after a couple of hours. Upper Flume and Upper Walking Boss are now closed for the season. Haulback was still open providing access to Lower Flume and Lower Walking Boss. Both of those two trails were ungroomed, and still had good snow coverage with lots of soft bumps. Thin coverage down at the lift loading area. Today was the last day of operation for the North Peak lift and trails. Upper Picked Rock, Bear Claw, and Flying Fox were open. They were groomed overnight and started out firm, but softened up quickly as the morning progressed. They had some bare spots, and the S-curve areas had thin coverage. Complementary stone edge and base grinding was available. Lower Picked Rock, Bear Claw, Seven Brothers, and the Brookway were open with decent coverage. Angel Street was ungroomed and still open, but had bare spots and thin coverage at the top. Basin Street has a large bare area just before it connects to Crosscut. Crosscut was open, but had thin coverage. The weather was warmer than predicted. It got up to 65°. Mostly sunny, no wind. A third T-Shirt and shorts type of day in a row! Loon currently plans to stay open until 4/18. Only running the Gondola, no access to Lower Flume or any other North Peak trails. Not sure why they are staying open. It's possibly related to the passholder promise of 150 days of operation. But if either Sunday River or Sugarloaf stayed open that would also fullfill the 150 day requirement. | |
