Comments | Started out at the gondola. No lines so I made my first five runs off the gondola. It's currently the only way to access Angel Street, which was still in prime shape. Also used the gondola to access Rampasture, Blue Ox, and Lower Picked Rock. These trails are in the West Basin area, which is closed, but they are currently feeding into the gondola area. Picked was groomed after freezing up so it was good at opening. Blue Ox and Rampasture were frozen roy, and didn't softer up until later in the morning. All still had good snow coverage. Next off to North Peak. No lines all day. Lapped Walking Boss, Flume, Sunset, Upper Picked Rock, Flying Fox, and also Haulback to access Lower Angel Street, Basin Street, and the bottom section of Big Dipper. All trails started out firm and fast with loose granular on top of hardpack frozen granular. They all buttered up nicely after a couple of hours though. There's still plenty enough snow on these trails for some good skiing. Saw the Easter Bunny skiing down Flume! Got more than a full days worth of skiing in by 1:30, so decided to call it quits. It was one of the most enjoyable days of the season with good snow conditions, great weather, no lift lines, and hardly anyone out on the trails. Didn't make it over to South Peak. Today was the last day of the season over there. Weather: Temperature was in the mid 20's at opening, and warmed up into the 50's. Full sunshine all day. There was some wind felt coming down Flume and Sunset, but it never became much of a factor. | |
