Comments | This time my visit to Big Squaw didn't end with a derailment and lift evac! I used the voucher I received last time for a great day of spring skiing today. The mountain was still 100% open, although there were some thin spots and rocks poking through in places. It was windy with temperatures in the 30s and 40s. The snow got pretty soft quickly, but some areas in the shade stayed firm. Any snow that hadn't been recently groomed was unstable and easy to sink into. Because of this I stayed on groomed terrain for most of the day. Almost every trail had been groomed and there were great views if Moosehead Lake and Katahdin all day long. We'll see what happens with the sale this summer, but hopefully I'll be skiing the upper mountain trails in the not too distant future. |
