Comments | Started out at the Peabody Express. It was practically ski on from opening until about 10:30. After that the wait was only a few minutes for the rest of the day. Jeff, AKA the "Bullhorn Guy" provided some entertainment as you waited. He stood in front of the line all day with his bullhorn calling out "Welcome to Cannon", reminding everyone to have their tickets and passes visible, and also served as the primary mask enforcement official. All of the trails from the Peabody lift had good snow coverage and skied nicely. Most of the trails were groomed, but a few areas near Red Ball were not. I skied the Front Five area from the Zoomer lift for a while. There was no wait to speak of at that lift. I skied all the trails, except that I missed Paulie's Folly. All the trails skied nicely with good coverage and snow condition. Rocket was the best, and Gary's was nice too. The mogul area under the Zoomer lift had good coverage and nice soft snow. And this area has great views of Echo Lake. Took a few runs from the Cannonball Quad. There was only a couple three minute wait at this lift when I rode it. Vista Way was nice with deep ungroomed natural snow. Upper Cannon was groomed and nice. Profile had giant snowmaking whales from top to bottom, leaving only a narrow skiable section on the side near the lift. Upper Ravine was groomed and skied very well. Cannon announced that their snowmaking has concluded for this season. The weather was mostly sunny or filtered sun all day. The temperature started out at about 6° at opening, and only warmed up to about 18° in the afternoon. Wind was not a factor today. Overall it was a really nice day of skiing. Indoor dining was available with the tables spaced out appropriately. The lift lines were not too long, and they were all well managed. There was always someone directing traffic, which kept things nice and orderly. I noticed that the Cannon Mountain Ambassadors were being used at the lifts to direct traffic. I haven't noticed that before at Cannon or anywhere else. I'm not sure if this is their normal practice or if it's because of short staffing. Anyway it really helped to keep the lines moving smoothly. | |
